Case filed against DepEd execs over sex education in high school

A class suit was filed by individuals against officials of the Department of Education for their move to integrate sex education in the curriculum of public high schools.

The class suit, filed by the group of losing senatorial candidate Jo Imbong before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, asked for a prohibition with an appeal for a temporary restraining order against DepEd Secretary Mona Valisno and Undersecretary Ramon Bacani.

The petitioners claimed that the DepEd memorandum behind the policy was unconstitutional, branding it as an “usurpation” of parents’ role to teach their children regarding reproductive health.
